True Love Waits

yup.. it's valentine's day today.. it took me a moment to realize that yeah... this is the day.. that lovers' are waiting for, that the aching one is loathing for, and the solos that doesn't pay too much attention. I guess.. I belong to the latter. and i don't hate that.

It's a routine for me to scheme something special for my Dad and Mom when it's Valentine's Day together with my sis. But i guess, I'm too preoccupied to prepare something now. I do apologize for it.

Some people will say before... "Hey, heart's day is coming up. What are your plans?"
Me: "Oh? yeah.? It's Valentine's already. I guess, I'll just spend time with my dad and sis."
TheY: "Ur Dad and sis huh?Don't you think of having a boyfriend so you'll not be lonely this time?"
Me: "Oh, I guess not."

And the truth is. I hate these conversations. What's the problem with not having a date or special someone.

I don't hate heart's day. I hate those people who think it's exclusive for two people intimately in love with each other. It's not a must to be gloomy whenever you don't have that special someone with you. It's not a must to hate those people who left you cold this day. Don't you love your family? your ever noisy neighbors? your crazy friends? that stranger beside you?

For me, it's a time to share some love. I don't say that it's wrong to spend time with your partner. It's just that, you have the right to be part of this day without having one.
It's time to appreciate those people who have cared for you, those people whom you cherished moments, laughed with, cried with, suffered with and lived with through everything.

make them feel special, as you enjoy yourself as well.. this is definitely the time.

and for those people who wanted me to find a partner now. we're just too young. It's just a burden. and a BIIIIIIIIG problem. You can say that I'm afraid to be hurt. But I'll say, that I'm brave enough to become radical. To not follow what I think is not right for me now even though most of them are against me. I'm brave enough to swim against the flow of the current.

I don't need one right now. I don't need to rush. I don't need to feel bad even if I don't have one.
Rush and you'll stumble.

TRUE LOVE WAITS

That's what I believe now. And when I found him, I guess... I have a new chapter in my Valentine's Day.. =D

*** But I guess, I still do not know what true love really means. And that's the journey I'm taking up for now***

Seeking for Justice

It has been over a month now when the gruesome Maguindanao Massacre shocked the whole world and still, there is no official justice that took place. Imagine how our country have been qouted as the "Most Dangerous Place for Journalists" in the world and is far worse than Iraq in terms of violence. It's such a major downfall considering that our country is struggling to progress. The question is:

WHY SHOULD SOMEONE DO SUCH A TERRIBLE DEED?
AND HOW COULD THEY EVER DO IT?

Is it the effect of being lured to power and money that they could violate the laws of morality?

I have read that it was cheaper to kill a political rival than to compete with him the election. Just imagine how inhumane is that! I was appalled by the brutality and evilness of the perpetrator of the crime. I could not picture out how they could actually sleep at night without being bothered by their conscience. It was a bitter irony since the day of the massacre was the International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Woman. The worst part was, most of the victims were innocent people who did their best in their job and women who wanted to start a change serving as supporters. This has been the most brutal of all election-related killings in history.

Expelling the Ampatuans from the Lakas-Kampi-CMD Political Party would never be enough. It was just showing off to the public that they were doing something. It was true that there were possibilities that the Ampatuans may not be the people behind this. Nevertheless, the authorities should open their eyes and mind! The evidences are crystal clear right in front of them waiting to be used in bringing justice to the victims and their families.

The declaration of martial law in the province does not aid much in the progress of the case. It just added terror in the civilians considering the imprint of hostilities from the Marcos regime. In addition, there were military officers who abused their newly acquired power over the province. The initiator of martial law cannot even defend her purpose of issuing it. And to be worse, there have been protests by Ampatuan supporters composed of more than 4000 people with their purpose of releasing their leaders.

Looking at the brighter side, some events brought back the glory to the country such as the CNN Hero of the Year Award received by Kuya Efren, the triumph of Filipino competitors in their own fields globally and the revival of bayanihan in the Pinoy spirit. I really do hope that the new year will bring new life and new ray of hope for the families of the victims. The killing may affect the 2010 elections and let us unite hands in preventing this kind of incident to happen again. even worse.

It will depend on us, the rightful voters, on how the country will be navigated: be able to leap forward or be buried deeper down to the abyss.
